BMW – after image effect

We had a talk today by our tutor on designing interactions and a BMW advert was shown to give an example of how BMW is changing to identify with their customers.

This immediately reminded me of a BMW advert I remember reading about a few years ago. They very cleverly set up a cinema to have a BMW logo cut out behind the screen, then the advert played and a flash occurred. The audience thought nothing of the flash and were then told to close their eyes… where they saw the BMW logo due to the after image effect.

In my opinion – pure genius! Very clever marketing
